The Bajaj Avenger DTS-i 200cc is, no doubt, is a fashion statement and trend setter. This awesome piece of design provides international looking cruiser. The bike is having totally analogue console. It may be noted that the fuel gauge is placed on fuel tank. And techometer, tripmeter and speedometer incorporated in stylish placement at front. The self start machine doesn't lacking digital technology but external parts. At front, the round adjustable headlamp of halogen 60/50w type placed up to the turning indicator. The headlamp is small in size but gives superior visibility. You can have windshield on headlamp (optional). The rear mirrors comes in rectangular size. Frame is tubular double cradle with rectangular swing arm. The side panels, tank and mudguard have a few stickers. At the rear, chain is not covered but at front side. Footrest and footpegs are there for pillion rider and rear garb bar as well. The tail lamp is longer than other commuter and sports bike. Lengthwise this is the longest bike in the segment.
Engine
The Bajaj Avenger DTS-i 200cc is powered with 4-stroke, Oil cooled DTS-i engine, with the displacement of 198.8cc. The powertrain develops maximum Power of 17.51ps@8000rpm and maximum torque of 16.78nm@6000rpm. The power and torque is very similler to Pulsar series. Although the bike is a shorter one, but long ground clearance is 169 mm. It is having 5 speed gear box with multiple mesh transmission. Ignition is CDI with load sensing. The engine is well supported by single cylinder. Digital twin spark ignition, digital cdi unit, trics III, CV carburetor.Completely re-tuned DTS-i technology especially designed for india's first cruiser. With this you are assured of optimum ignition timing for any engine rpm, better throttle response and reduced emission which are year 2005 compliant. The patented technology improves engine torque at low rpm and is optimised to get maximum performance from engine. The result is crisp throttle for consistent engine output for varying load and speed condition at different levels of acceleration. More power and more mileage with cleaner emissions.
Acceleration
The top speed of the bike is 115 kmph. The cruiser can take you upto 0-60 kmph in just 5.9 seconds.Fuel Efficiency
The maximum fuel tank capacity is 14 litres and reserve is 3.4 litres. You can get an ideal mileage of 35-40kmpl. It may be suggested that regular service, standard tyre pressure and handling may give you more than 40 kmpl.Colours
The bike is available in four exciting colours. These are red, blue, black and grey. Available colours Are :Brakes
Though the bike comes with multi spoke wheels but there is disc brake at front tyre. This large ventilated 260 mm hydraulically operated disc brake is highly sensitive and pause the bike at any speed. Whereas the rear brakes is provided with mechanically expanding 130 mm drum type.Suspension
This long female's suspension is worth watching. At the front, there is telescopic forks 140 mm. Whereas at the rear, triple rate spring, 5 way adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers that can be adjusted as per the requirement. You can adjust the rear suspension according to total weight and road conditions.Wheels and Tyres
The awesome bike is one of the longest bike in India and thus having wide tyres and multi spoke chrome plated wheels. The front and rear tyre specifications are 90/90-17 and 130/90-15 respectively.Wheel Base and Controlling
What can be better than 1475mm of wheel base for this heavy and muscular bike. Obviously, the larger wheel base is a guarantee of safety and solid grip on any surface. You can know the strength of the wide wheel base specially in countryside. But yes, it decrease the mileage for sure.Comfortness
As far as the comfort is concerned, its a tough job at start with. However, after regular use you can used to drive it smoothly. The riding posture is quite comfortable for city areas as these areas distance might be not longer than 35 to 40 km. But for long drive, we can't suggest this long bike with straight body posture as the rider has to sit in a awkward position. Forward foot riding and stretched arms posture are supposed to be troublesome.Though pillion rider may feel easy with backrest at rear. Suitable rear grab rail adds to the comfort as well. Footpegs and footrest is there for both ladies and gents. The saddle height is kept low and this, at some extent, trouble the long height rider in standing mode. Even though, stability and control is fine on account of low saddle height and disc brake which provide you better grip on brakes and handlebar.
Pros
Overall, the braking is excellent. The beast is best in its segment.Cons
Digital dashboard would be more appealing. The seat for pillion is not much comfortable. And gear box can be improved. The riding experience on rough roads is not satisfactory.Bajaj Avenger DTSi models
