Bajaj Discover DTS-Si looks is a blend of commuter and sports bike. Bajaj Auto tries to woo customers from all walks of life. The female can also be called replica of Discover series. However, this time different colours are painted for marking strips. Other than stripes, its all about black. The mask houses twin pilot lamp that promises better visibility during twilight. Black tinted windscreen is a beauty to see. Contrary to the general practice, front mudguard is not having body colour. Bajaj logo and bike monogram is pasted at fuel tank. While other colour stripes are there at mask and side panels. The dashboard got twin pods for speedometer and fuel gauge. Other indicators are also incorporated at the console including low battery indicator.For the first time in the industry, LED tail lamp is provided in a 100cc bike. The tail lamp adds to the sporty look of the female. Rear tail cowl possesses brake light and turn indicators. Equal to tank height, rear grab rail is positioned for pillion. Black alloy wheels and black silencer are other fascinating features of the machine. All black treatment is, in fact, attracts the beholder at the first look. Pass switch, maintenance free battery and digital ignition are other desirable features in the bike.
Engine
Bajaj Discover DTS-Si is powered with second version of DTS-Si, 4-stroke, natural air cooled engine. The cubic capacity of the engine is 94.38cc. The powertrain develops a maximum power of 7.7Ps at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 7.85Nm at 5000 rpm. Bajaj auto has used the same patented techniques like Twin spark technology and ExhausTEC. For the first time five speed gearbox is used in a 100cc bike. The gear pattern is the Bajaj style all down. Another fascinating feature is self start option in this low end machine. Ride control switch are there for best use of the fuel. A pent roof combustion chamber helps to achieve near complete combustion with minimum fuel.Acceleration
NAFuel Efficiency
Bajaj Discover sports a fuel tank capacity of 8 litre and reserve of 2.3 litre. The company claims 80 kmpl mileage from the machine. However, according to ARAI IDC (Indian Driving Cycle), discover gives a fuel efficiency figure of 89kmpl. Under standard condition, fuel efficiency is expected to be around 125kmpl. Bajaj is yet to get the ARAI figures under standard conditions. For better mileage, twin spark technology, combustion chamber, five-speed gearbox, Exhaust TEC and ride control switch are there in the machine.Colours
The Bajaj Discover DTS-Si is available in three colour stripes with black body colour. Red, blue and green colour strips are painted at mask, fuel tank, side and rear panels. Bajaj Discover will get Red and Blue shades in the months to come. Overall, the bike is painted black. Like engine, alloy wheels and other fairing is in black treatment. Bajaj Discover has the conventional drum brakes at both tyres. This is the only area where Discover is not improved. Otherwise, technically it is above expectations in its segment. Nevertheless, these common brakes are also ok with the Discover.Suspension
Bajaj has used the best suspension for the new baby of its stable. Front fork is telescopic with anti-stiction bush inbuilt. While the rear fork is Nitrox one with a wheel travel of 110mm. clearly the bike gives you more comfortable ride on bad roads.
