Appearance
The looks of the Honda Shine (Spoke) bike is not sporty like the Glamour, the competitor from Hero Honda. The bike has been designed for the ‘office commuter’ in mind who needs plain and neat looks. Its Ergotec designing technology provides responses quick enough to zip and swerve through city crowds effortlessly. The Honda Shine (Spoke) bike has multi mapping CDI, CV carburettor, tumble flow combustion chamber, long intake pipe and connecting tube, two-way Air Jacket and pulse exhaust system. A hefty and cleverly chiseled fuel tank comes with well-designed knee recesses and a familiar filler-cap in chrome. Accommodating 11litres of juice, this tank blends into boomerang-shaped side panels that lead backwards into a smooth brake-warning lamp.The dashboard has the basic features built into it.Speedometer and ODO meter on the left and fuel gauge with three indicators (high beam, signal, and neutral) on the right. Engine
Honda Shine comes with aircooled single cylinder 4 stroke OHC engine with displacement of 124.6 CC. The engine has a support for single cylinder and the electrical specifications of Shine are 12 volts, 12 volts- 2.5Ah and digital CDI. Honda Shine develops 7.68 KW of peak power at 7500 rpm and generates a torque of 10.9Nm@5500rpm. The bike is started by kick start and self start. It has 4-speed constant mesh type transmission. The front suspensions in Honda Shine include telescopic fork and the rear suspension includes hydraulic damper which is 3-step spring loaded. The overall height, length and width of Honda Shine are 1070mm, 2015mm, 730mm respectively. It has a wheel base of 1265mm and kerb weight is 118kgs. It has a ground clearance of 160mm. The machine has 240 mm diameter disc brakes in the front and 130mm drum brakes in the rear. The design of the bike provides easy posture without back strains.Telescopic hydraulic forks at the front and swing arm with adjustable hydraulic dampers at the rear gives smooth ride on any kind of road. For the pillion there is a adjustable rear cushion and wider pillion grip, lockable seat and helmet holder as well. Luggage space with locking facility is the other facility which give marks to the bike. A CV type carburetor performs mixing duties on this bike, and breathes into the cylinder via a purposely long and thin induction manifold—that’s for faster air-fuel intake velocity and subsequently better volumetric efficiency. The bike features multi mapping CDI, tumble flow combustion chamber, long intake pipe and connecting tube, CV carburetor, two-way Air Jacket and pulse exhaust system, the 125 cc engine is termed as an 'Optimax’ engine and will deliver 10.3 bhp. According to Honda the bike will deliver a mileage figure of 65kpl in city conditions. The 'Optimax’ engine is essentially a scaled down version of the Unicorn’s 150cc motor. The Shine has the better engine overall. The Shine vibrates more than Yamaha, and it’s a noticeable difference.
