TVS Apache RTR160 Kick Start
TVS launched three variants of TVS Apache RTR 160 in the bike market. These three variants are: TVS Apache RTR 160,TVS RTR 160 (rear-disc) and Apache RTR 160 EFI. The base model has only alloy wheels and the same colours which other two variants had. You need to pay more for rear-disc and EFI version.

Appearance
TVS Apache RTR 160 (kick start) is a handsome bike. Lookwise, it has balanced flesh over every part. It come with a wonderful, well crafted protective covering at front. It houses clear headlamps and large windscreen. As per the looks, the bike is handsome with attractive cosmetic work. The hood, front muffler, fuel tank, engine fairing and rear side panels are in body colour except black one. Aerodynamic fuel tank shrouds at both end are there. Body colour engine fairing is incorporated in the machine. Forged break lever do away other competitors. The forged levers are not only good looking but also lighter in construction. The handlebar come in a very new style as it is equipped with clip-on handlebar. It got the support of rigid base. Both side handles added on it. LCD Dashboard incorporates speedometer, tripmeter, fuel gauge, clock in digital mode while tachometer in analouge style. Interestingly, extra features are given at dashboard. These are service reminder and battery indicator along with common turn indicator, high-low beam indicator. Its digital dashboard also includes the data logging feature as in race bike which show the lap time between 0-60 and top speed indicators. This bike also added the features like alloy footpegs and a supportive seat for a sporty and comfortable riding position.
Racing GT strips dominate the female. It can be seen from front mudguard to tail. In between it covers fuel tank. The bike name monogram is a must see on the fuel tank. RTR 160 sticker also found at rear side panels. Racing fluid stripes on the tank and on the front muffler is a beauty to see. Racing strips at tyres looks sporty. TVS Apache RTR 160 sports bull horn grab bars that is splited. The split grab rail is designed to give the pillion a safe riding experience. There is also racing fluid stripes between the horns. Rear foot pegs are in twin colour and give comfort to the pillion. LED tail lamp is fitted that consumes less battery power and has long life too. TVS gives utmost attention on the design of silencer. The company claimed that it make a very pleasing sound that is also contribute to TVS Apache appeal. The black colour silencer has metallic heat shield. The silencer is claimed latest and newer one. Chain is left naked in the bike that gives it a sporty look. It is perhaps the first time, in 160cc segment, that a two-wheeler company offers naked chain.
Engine
TVS Apache RTR 160 is powered with a 4 stroke, single cylinder engine with 159.7cc of displacement. The engine churns a maximum power of 15.4 ps at 8500 rpm and maximum torque is 13.1 NM at 6000 rpm. The technicians of the company smartly managed to improve power without sacrifice mileage. The machine sports five speed constant mesh gearbox. The bike has given a largest ground clearance that is 180mm. It is rare in the segment. The top speed of the sports bike is 120kmph. The sports bike has electronic fuel injection system that is meant for power improvement. However, it is not retained in the new TVS Apache RTR 180.
Acceleration
TVS Apache RTR 160 speedometer view Picture The acceleration in the bike is somewhat improved. According to test figures, it takes just 5.5 seconds to fly past 0-60km/h. The top speed of the bike is claimed 120 kmph. The improved acceleration is due to increased power and torque.
Fuel Efficiency
The most important thing about the bike is better mileage. Even it is 160cc bike but can give around 50 kmpl mileage. For the sake of mileage wheelbase is not increased in TVS Apache RTR 160. The full capacity of fuel tank is 16 litres. This big beast possesses a wide petrol tank with airscoops connected to it. Wet kurb weight is also remained the same as low end versions.
Colours
TVS Apache RTR 160 comes in two colours, yellow and matt grey red. The body colour is painted at cowl, front mudguard, fuel tank, engine fairing and rear side panels. Racing strips adorn the tyres and give it sports appeal. Available colours Are :
Brakes
The machine houses drum brakes at both end. It is a beauty to see in fact. The drum brakes are capable to halt the bike at any speed. TVS Apache RTR 160 provides the customer optional rear disc brakes. It comes with additional charges.
Suspension
In order to make the ride butter smooth, TVS has installed ply shock absorbers. TVS Apache RTR 160 Fi sports Monotube Inverted Gas Filled Shock at rear and telescopic shock absorbers at front. The suspensions have enough power to convert jolts in smooth ride. Black spring matches to the black treatment of bike. The monotube fork is five time adjustable for different riding conditions.
Wheels and Tyres
TVS Apache RTR 160 sports five spoke black alloy wheels that are lighter and rigid one. The bike's wheelbase is not improved. Now it comes with 1300mm of wheelbase. The specification of the tyres is -90x90-17 (front) and 100x80-18 (rear).
Wheel Base and Controlling
In this higher version of RTR Series wheel base is not improved. That means mileage will be more and would not spoil due to the large wheelbase. On the other hand, handling is not been overlooked in the machine. Racing throttle response is phenomenal.Comfortness
The fuel tank is sculpted in such a way that the rider can give rest to his knees. Apart from this, riding posture is sporty also as the rider needs to stretch his arms to hold the handlebars. For pillion, rear grab rails are there. The handle like grab bars in fact rigid. With disc brakes and poly suspension riding become a joy ride.
