Appearance
Yamaha FZ-S has an international sporty and macho looks. Eyecatching design of the bike is superb. The cosmetic treatment and curves at the bike feels like a robot. The lower part of the machine is left naked. Especially chain and engine are not having covers. The middle fairing is looks like a robot parts. At the first look, pillion foot rest looks awkward. However, for better seating position, this helps a lot. Foot pegs, gear box is left in sliver colour.
This 150cc machine houses a number of big parts incorporated at various places smartly. Like it has pretty wide tyres, huge tank, beefy forks and so on. The bike is available in attractive black with yellow and black with red. The headlamp of the bike is greater looks than the firms previous launch Yamaha FZ-16. The head lamp have a new cap on it which makes it look much better. In addition to this, the bike claims the black treatment at most. The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) consol provided with a many high-tech features such as digital speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, fuel gauge and other indicators are set in optimum position to keep the field of vision clear. This LCD dashboard is not different from what Yamaha FZ-16 have. One thing about this bike that will grab attention of youths is engine starting signal. The silencer has different size in the segment which is also found in some of the bikes in the segment. Overall, it looks bigger than Yamaha FZ-16 due to its front fairing. Airscoops is very sort in size. The logo of Yamaha is given on airscoops while bike logo is on tank. The tank's centre portion is nicely covered with body colour skin.
Engine
The overall height, length and width of Yamaha FZ-S are 1045mm, 1975mm, 770mm respectively. It has a wheel base of 1335mm and kerb weight is 137kgs. It has a ground clearance of 160mm. Yamaha FZ-S comes with Air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve with displacement of 153.0cm3 Yamaha FZ-S develops 14PS@7500rpm with a return type 5-speed gearbox and generates a torque of 14Nm@6000rpm. The Yamaha FZ-S is started by electric start. The front suspensions in Yamaha FZ-S include Telescopic and the rear suspension includes Monocross. The rear monocross suspension unit provides 120 mm of wheel travel. The front wheel has 267mm Hydraulic Disc brakes and rear wheel has a conventional drum brakes. This feature is also the main thing which prove it a sporty and safe bike. The disc brakes are highly efficient and gives instant response.
Acceleration
What one can expect from a sports bike like this. Awesome pickup, fast acceleration and wonderful top speed. Yes, it has all. The top speed is 135 kmph and the machine can reach 0-60 kmph in only 5.5 seconds.
Fuel Efficiency
Yamaha FZS can give an average of 36 kmpl in city condition and a maximum of 47 kmpl on highway. The maximum capacity of fuel tank is 12 Litres and 1.2-litres reserve. Large fuel tank capacity. Its saves frequent visits to the petrol pump.

Brakes
The sports bike fitted with utmost safety features which include disc brakes. At front the brake system is disc with the specification of 267 hydraulic. But the rear one is conventional drum type.
Suspension
In line to make it safer and comfortable bike, the company equipped it with monocross suspension at rear side. The ability of absorbing shock of bump etc is really good. It provides 120mm of wheel travel.
Wheels and Tyres
The wheels are in proportion of a bike like Yamaha FZS. No doubt that it has the smartest wheel and tyre combination. The size of the tyres is awesome. The specifications of the front and rear tyre are 100/80-17 and 140/60-R17 respectively. Five-spoke alloy wheels do the needful for the beholders eye.

The sitting position for the rider is comfortable and safe. Pillion backrest is not provided that disappoint the passenger but for the sake of the bike's sporty look it was avoided. However, foot-pegs, footrest and rear grab bars are there to make sure the pillion's safety.Due to big tyres, wheelbase and advanced engine technologies, the rider feels better control over the beast and it adds to the safety concerns as well.
