Appearance

The iconic bike of Yamaha, Yamaha VMAX, has got massive appearance and can be noticed even in the fleet of cars due to its bigger air-intakes, distinctive headlight, stylish engine design and 4-1-2-4 exhaust system. Only the aggressive frontal area is enough to tell you about the sporty and macho image of the Yamaha VMAX. The headlight cluster has been designed in a thoughtful way and looks splendid. Right above the headlamp, disc brake oil case is fitted that is also a unique work by the company designers. As the bike comes in only 'royal' black shade, all the components and parts are in black wrapping except air-intakes, disc brakes, rear view mirrors and exhaust system. All these things come in chrome finish which enhance sporty and muscular look of the machine. Four air-intakes are hand made in aluminium. The intakes are placed at the each side of the dummy petrol tank. In fact, the company fitted the bike's fuel tank under the seat. In sake of the bike appearance, a dummy petrol tank is added. These intakes are responsible for higher air flow to the new airbox. Lightweight magnesium alloy material has been used for clutch cover and drive shaft. The material has given the parts reduced weight and classic finish. Front turn indicators are having leaf type looking and mounted at front fork's rod. The instrument panel is divided in two parts in the new Yamaha VMAX. One dial shape pod is given just above the headlamp which houses tachometer and digital speedometer. Just below the dial, common indicators like neutral, side indicators and high-low beam indicators are placed in small round different coloured tabs. The second instrument console is fitted at the top of the dummy fuel tank in rectangular shape. This LED dash sports all digital tripmeter, odometer, running fuel consumption, fuel gauge, clock, stopwatch, intake air temperature, throttle opening and gear shift indicator. This is called as multi-function Organic Electro-Luminescent 'OEL' instrument panel or malfunction indicator. Ignition key also finds its place behind the OEL at some distance. The Yamaha VMAX has been blessed with a strong but low profile aluminium chassis that is diamond type. Handling and control become easy on account of lightweight aluminium body frame. The seats in the bike is also unique. The driver seat has a small back rest thus the pillion seat is step-up. Now look at the rear side of the big machine. It is decorated with LED tail lamp, turn indicators and rear hood. The most attractive feature of the rear view is 4-1-2-4 silencer system that is blessed with titanium mufflers. In order to control emissions, the exhaust system detects oxygen levels and control the fuel supply through EFI. The sound which is made by these funky silencers, match to the style and body type of the bike.

Engine

The Yamaha VMAX is blessed with all new 1679cc, 4 valves per cylinder, DOHC, liquid cooled, 65 degree, fuel injected powertrain. This advanced mill of the bike is capable enough to pumps out 200 PS of top power at 9,000 rpm and 166.8 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The awesome power and torque are used smartly by a five-speed constant mesh type transmission. The powertrain comes coupled with Yamaha's innovative Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-I) and Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) technologies that ensure higher power, torque and acceleration along with super performance. The systems promise lightning pick-up at any speed and excellent performance at all rpm range. One of another result of using these systems is 220 km/h of top speed. The engine has been developed at a 65 degree V bank instead of 70 degrees on the original Yamaha VMAX in sake of shorter length. As a result, the mill's size become 27mm shorter as against the original one.

Acceleration

As mentioned earlier, the iconic bike of Yamaha-Yamaha VMAX- is installed with a 4 stroke, liquid cooled, 65 degree, EFI, V4 engine with a displacement of 1679cc. A great number of innovative technologies have been incorporated to achieve a maximum power of 200 PS at 9,000 rpm and 166.8 Nm of top torque at 8,000 rpm along with mind blowing acceleration. The bike can touch a top speed of 220 km/h. Yamaha VMAX takes only 2.70 seconds to mark 0-100 km/h sprint.

Fuel Efficiency

This bigger machine, Yamaha VMAX, is loaded with a massive 1679cc powerplant and the service weight is 310 kg. This kind of bigger machine's are not meant for fuel conscious people but style and social status. However, if we talk point to point, the Yamaha VMAX can deliver 10-14 kmpl mileage in standard conditions.

Colours

Brakes

The mean machine of Yamaha, Yamaha VMAX has been gifted with most advanced braking system. The front tyre is fitted with dual wave discs of 320mm dia while the rear brake is single wave disc type with 280mm dia. The diameters of the disc brakes are good enough to tell you about the braking response. These brakes can halt the massive machine instantly at gentle push. The front disc brake has radial-mounted six-piston calipers for amazing halting power. In addition to this, the Yamaha VMAX is equipped with Anti lock braking system (ABS) that helps to protect wheel lock-up when brakes are applied. Suspension

The iconic two-wheeler of Yamaha sports most advanced suspension system. The front fork of the Yamaha VMAX is telescopic type with 120mm of front wheel travel. The rear suspension is a swingarm type link fork with a rear wheel travel of 110mm. Riding comfort on any type of road is ensured by incorporating latest shock absorbers at both end.

Wheels and Tyres

Yamaha VMAX has bigger tyres and wheels as compared to other two-wheelers on road. To run 310 kg of mean machine along with massive 1679cc engine is a tuff job and can be done by higher capacity wheels and tyres. Keeping in mind that reason, the Yamaha VMAX is installed with bigger 18 inch alloy wheels and broad tyre with more rubber. The tyre specification of VMAX are: 120/70 R18M/C (59V) of front and rear's one is 200/50 R18M/C (76V) . The rock strong tyres are from Bridgestone. The giant bike comes loaded with five spoke black alloy wheels. Both the tyres are tubeless and which ensure carefree riding.

Wheel Base and Controlling

Yamaha Motors loaded each and every part keeping bike and engine size in mind. The larger wheelbase of the machine also reflects the thinking. Yamaha VMAX has got a wheelbase of 1700mm. It is to be mentioned that the higher the wheelbase, the more the stability on road. Especially, larger wheelbase comes into act when slippery road, instant braking etc. The wheelbase provide support to balance the bike and stop it firmly on road. The grip of the bike also enhanced by larger wheelbase. Apart from this, the Yamaha VMAX is blessed with advanced disc brakes and suspensions that support the rider to better handle and control the vehicle. Braking system of the bike coupled with ABS system that prevents wheel locking when hard braking.

Comfortness

As far as comfort on Yamaha VMAX is concerned, the bike is meant for styling even comfort aspect is well taken care of. The seating arrangement is in unique style with separate seats for rider and pillion. The step-up seat provides desirable comfort level. The driver seat is compact but wide along with a small back rest. Whereas the pillion seat is placed a little higher than the rider seat. The seat is decorated with bold thread work. Average sized rider would feel better driving the vehicle but a taller rider might feel problem with air-intakes touching to his keen. Moreover, the compact LCD instrument display at petrol tank is too small to be read by the rider. Even it is very risky to see at LCD display while driving.

Pros

wonderful looks dazzling with air-intakes, the powerplant is most sophisticated.

Cons

Not for long drive as seats are not enough comfortable. Tank mounted LCD instrument panel is too small.
