The smartphone was earlier announced to be launched in February this year; however, the company released it in South Korea first. Later on, company announced a revamped global version of the smartphone in August, 2012. The Optimus Vu comes equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, Android v4.0.4 Jelly Bean OS, 5-inch IPS XGA display (1024 x 768p) with 4:3 aspect ratio, 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera. Company is bundling a NFC Tag and Rubbebdium Pen along with every Optimus Vu in the country.

The odd aspect ratio of Optimus Vu display is the biggest drawback of this smartphone as various Android apps are not optimised to work on display and, it’s the biggest reason why things are not working out for this. Company might make an official announcement next week, however LG has already announced the successor to Optimus Vu in the Korean market, which features Android 4.0, 5-inch IPS display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and 1024x768p resolution, 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash, 1.3MP front camera, 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, 1.5 GHz Dual Core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 Processor, and 2150mAh battery with wireless charging. However, there is no information for its Indian arrival till date.
