iPhone 5 launched in India

Looks like the festive season in India keeps getting exciting with each passing day, at least in the tech world! And adding some technological glory to this year's festive season is the iPhone 5, which is set to arrive in India on November 2. Apple's flagship mobile handset is set to be available in India with a price tag of Rs 45, 500 for the 16GB variant, Rs 52, 500 for the 32GB variant and Rs 59, 500 for the 64GB variant. According to reports, Redignton and Ingram Micro, the two distribution partners of Apple in India, will offer the newest Apple iPhone in the country via leading trade stores and retail outlets across India from November 2.

While Ingram Micro is a US-based distributor, Redington India Ltd is a local distributor with 12, 000 partners across India. Also, both the firms are already involved in the distribution of iPods and iPads in the country. With the decision to collaborate with Redignton and Ingram Micro for the distribution of Apple iPhone 5 , Apple Inc. clearly indicates its intention of drifting away from its previous strategy of partnering with telecom operators. Given that, most telecom firms are already ready with their stock of nano-sims meant to be employed only in Apple iPhone 5.
